The University of Queensland (UQ) is one of Australia’s premier learning and research institutions internationally-renowned for its highly-awarded teaching staff, world-acclaimed researchers and superior campus facilities and services. Located in South-East Queensland, Brisbane, UQ boasts a safe, friendly and multicultural environment. Brisbane is known to have a lower cost of living compared to other major Australian cities, sub-tropical climate, and access to world-renowned locations like the rainforest hinterlands, beaches in the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast, Stradbroke Island, Fraser Island, the Great Barrier Reef and the Whitsunday Islands.
The advantages of studying at UQ include its international memberships with the prestigious Group of Eight (Go8) key teaching and research universities in Australia, and one of only three Australian members of Universitas 21, a select international network of comprehensive, research-intensive universities committed to world-best quality and practice.
UQ was ranked 43rd among universities world-wide in 2008 by the Times Higher, 10th among universities outside Europe and North America and awarded UQ an employer ranking of 38 out of all the world's universities. UQ offers the most comprehensive range of high quality programs in Queensland, with more than 350 full-degree programs at undergraduate and postgraduate coursework and research levels. International students currently enrolled at accredited and/or participating overseas universities may be eligible to study at The University of Queensland for one or two semesters under the Study Abroad or Exchange programs. Credit gained at UQ is in most cases transferable to a student’s degree at his or her home university.

WHAT STUDENTS SAY Ms Anja Thomas (Germany)
Bachelor of Business Management / Arts
„I discovered the Institut Ranke-Heinemann which represents Australian and NZ universities in Germany and Austria. I went to one of their information sessions and looked at the universities which are members both in the Group of 8 and Universitas 21 and chose UQ. I chose UQ because of its location; close to the coast and its climate. I like the cosmopolitan lifestyle and the many opportunities that I have, such as a good education and career prospects. I enjoy the relaxed way of living, climate, the Gold and Sunshine Coasts, BBQs and people who frequently smile, are friendly and with whom you can always have a good chat.”
